Richard Branson is a well-known entrepreneur. He decided to share his thoughts in an open letter to a stranger. This letter consisted of his advice on the topic of happiness. As previously mentioned, the text is written in the form of an open letter. More specifically, the purpose of this piece is to give advice to its audience. Who, in this case, is a stranger. The purpose is made clear from the first paragraph by stating, “I would like to help you.” This same sentence also portrays the points of views used in the letter. The first person is reflected through the usage of “I”, and the second person is reflected through the usage of “you”. The first person allows Branson to give his personal viewpoint on happiness.
